Meet a Husker: Lauren Mortenson

Meet Lauren Mortenson, a junior hospitality, restaurant, and tourism management major from Woodbury, Minnesota. Lauren is also pursuing leadership and communication, and business minors. 

Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I chose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln because the minute I stepped foot on campus, it felt like home. Lincoln itself is the perfect city for me and I fell in love instantly. Although I came in undecided, I knew that they had a an excellent hospitality program that was personalized and would provide career growth!

What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?

I am apart of CEHS Student Ambassadors, Horticulture Club, and the Club Manager's Association of America – Nebraska Student Chapter

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

My favorite class has been HRTM 373- Catering! We got to learn about the catering business and cook every week for the entire class! It was something I looked forward to every week & I wish I could take it again!

What are your career goals?

I aspire to start my own restaurant or catering business!
