Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic
The Barkley Clinic provides services for individuals with speech, language, hearing and balance impairments. Services are provided by licensed and ASHA-certified speech-language pathology and audiology faculty members and graduate student clinicians in the speech-language pathology and audiology training programs. Located on East Campus, the Barkley Clinic is also home to the state’s three hearing aid banks, which provide hearing aids to individuals of all ages in need across the state.
Buros Center for Testing
The Buros Center for Testing operates as an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the science and practice of testing and assessment. The Buros Center shares its expertise in assessment-related endeavors by providing critical appraisals of tests and descriptive information, offering psychometric consultation services, and developing deeper understanding of testing and assessment practices.
The Counseling and School Psychology Clinic
The Counseling and School Psychology Clinic offers supportive, affirming and affordable psychological services to members of the local community and surrounding regions, while providing professional clinical training for graduate students in counseling psychology and school psychology. The CSPC offers an array of psychological services to support the mental, behavioral and emotional health of children, adolescents and adults.
Couple and Family Clinic
The Couple and Family Clinic is a mental health clinic that has been providing low-cost therapy services to individuals, couples, and families since 1993. The clinic provides in-person and telehealth services to Lincoln and the greater Nebraska communities. The clinic is staffed by current marriage and family therapy clinical master’s students who are supervised by doctoral-level licensed clinicians.
Kit and Dick Schmoker Reading Center
The Schmoker Reading Center provides reading and writing tutoring to children in the community who are reading below grade level. Tutoring is provided by CEHS graduate and undergraduate students, under the direction of UNL faculty and certified teachers. Individualized instruction aims to help each child improve his or her reading and writing skills, gain greater confidence as a reader, and establish a love for reading. Tutoring is provided for students in grades K-6 year-round and students in grades 7-12 during the fall semester.
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is a membership-based lifelong learning program for adults 50 years plus. OLLI offers non-credit courses, lectures, events and travel opportunities. There are no tests and no grades. OLLI is about the love of learning.
The Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery
The Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery aims to educate and increase awareness of the rich traditions of art, craft, design and material culture expressed through the exhibition of all forms of textiles and apparel. The gallery is dedicated to Robert Hillestad, an internally renowned fiber artist and professor emeritus of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design.
Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory
The Ruth Staples Child Development Lab School is a premier early childhood program dedicated to education, outreach and research. Children, parents, students and faculty all learn from one another through the community of learning. As a teacher-training facility, the CDL provides college students with essential experiences in early childhood education under the ongoing guidance and support of faculty.
