Dalla to Found First Quarterly Journal on Human Trafficking

It's everywhere – provided you know where to find it.

Years of research have taught CYFS faculty affiliate Rochelle Dalla, department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies, that the lesson applies both to the shadowy practice of human trafficking and the scattered information surrounding it.

Dalla will aim to assemble research and foster discourse on the issue by founding the recently approved Journal of Human Trafficking, which she cited as the first of its kind.

Engin-Wedin recognized by Nebraska Department of Education

CYFS faculty affiliate Nancy Engen-Wedin, department of Teacher Learning and Teacher Education, has received the Friend of American Indian Education Award from the Nebraska Department of Education.

Engen-Wedin, coordinator of the Indigenous Roots Teacher Education Program (ROOTS) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was honored at the NDE's Native American Student Achievement Symposium in October.

Large-scale ikat tapestry diptychs, small format tapestry vignettes, and framed collagraphic monoprints on paper, explore the archetypal symbol of the trinity. This classic symbol – expressed as pyramid, triangle and temple – is the recognizable visual metaphor for this body of new work, invoking landscape, geometry and sacred space.

The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders is pleased to host Chris Holt from the University of Rochester Medical Center. Holt earned his PhD in pharmacology and toxicology from Tulane University School of Medicine. He studies synaptic pharmacology of the vestibular apparatus. Many sensory systems are endowed with efferent feedback mechanisms that can modulate their primary input to the brain.
