CEHS Staff Council invites all to presentation on India, Feb. 26

HRTM students and faculty traveled to India as part of a study tour over the winter break.  They visited four cities and learned about the people, culture, and food of India. Some of their experiences included visiting the Taj Mahal at sunrise, tiger sightings on safari at Ranthambore National Park, and attending a tea appreciation workshop with a master tea taster.

CEHS Staff Council invites all to presentation on India, Feb. 26

Dr. Ron Joekel Research Award deadline Mar. 30

The UNL Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa (education honorary) is proud to announce the Dr. Ron Joekel Research Award for the academic 2013-2014 academic year.  This award, with a $1500 prize, is made to a registered graduate student in education at UNL during 2013-2014 for research that advances the field of education and educational practice.  Submission is easy: a brief letter of application, one reference letter from a faculty member, and an example of a research project.  Submit all application materials in pdf format by Mar.

Students in the Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management program are getting some hands-on entrepreneurial experience as they also raise funds to support the Hospitality Student Development Organization. HSDO is offering appreciation baskets for sale to celebrate Student Worker Appreciation Week, Apr. 14-18.

Passion for teaching and keeping students actively engaged in the learning process is John Maag’s trademark as a professor of speech language pathology at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Education and Human Sciences. For his talents as a teacher, Maag has been selected for the Donald R. and Mary Lee Swanson Award for Teaching Excellence.

Chung to present next NGN Series Seminar talk

Soonkyu Chung, Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, will present a talk entitled, “Establishment and Characterization of in Vitro Model of Human Beige Adipocytes via Adenoviral Delivery of BMP7.”

The Nebraska Gateway to Nutrigenomics Seminar is scheduled for Feb. 19, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Nebraska East Union. This is a brown bag event with coffee and dessert provided.

All interested faculty, students, and staff are invited to attend this free seminar.
