Awards  

The College of Education and Human Sciences has been awarded the 2026 Clifton Strengths Institute Campus Partnership Award in celebration of teams and units around the UNL campus who are working to identify and develop the strengths of students, faculty/staff, and others in the campus community. 

Abisola Aiyeola, doctoral student of educational studies in teaching, curriculum and learning, and Deborah Ajeboriogbon, graduate student in child, youth and family studies: child development/early childhood education, were part of the winning team at the inaugural Great Prairie AI Show

Tianna L. Bankhead, doctoral student of teaching, learning, and teacher education, received the Reverend Dr. Michael Combs Student Award for Scholars of Equity and Justice and the AAAS Honorable Mention award and prize for her paper, "Anti-Blackness in “No Excuse” Charter Schools: The Miseducation and Black Futurity.”

Laila Doyle, an undergraduate senior in nutrition and health sciences, was awarded a Student Luminary Award in recognition of exceptional leadership and extraordinary commitment to the campus or community. 

Bradley Ekwerekwu, adjunct faculty in child, youth and family studies, received the MU College of Education & Human Development’s Mid-Career Alumni Achievement Award

Patty Kuo, associate professor in child youth and family studies, is the recipient of the Oustanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Award through the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor. 

Jace Meunier, graduate student in educational psychology, was awarded the Alex Kearns Memorial HOPE Award. 

Amanda Morales, associate professor of teaching, learning and teacher education, is the recipient of the Great Plains Milestone Award, in recognition of her “dedication, leadership, and commitment of those working every day to support Nebraska’s students and strengthen public education.” Dr. Morales was recognized for her excellence in making a lasting impact during the Horace Mann Awards Luncheon by the Nebraska State Education Association. 

Daniel Reardon, doctoral student of child youth and family studies, won the Graduate Student Awards at Research Days, presenting on “The Lasting Effects of Athletic Participation: Positive and Maladaptive Coping Pathways Across Gender.”  

Publications  

Yingying Wang, associate professor in Special Education and Communication Disorders, recently finished a three-year project to identify factors that determine the best candidates for cochlear implant procedures, and to explore relationships between the brain and speech perception outcomes — the process by which language is heard, interpreted and understood. Medical Xpress ran a March 10 article on the project.
