Kelcey Buck, associate director of strategic communications in the College of Education and Human Sciences , has been named the recipient of the latest Staff Star Award by the College of Education and Human Sciences Staff Council.
In her role, Buck manages the Pixel Lab and supports communications efforts for all departments in CEHS through social media, videos and stories. Since the start of 2024, she has also stepped up to cover a vacant position in the college.
“Kelcey has spearheaded several innovative initiatives to enhance our college’s visibility and engagement,” one nominator wrote. “Her work is especially important because it supports the entire college and is vital to the success of the overall University through communications and marketing endeavors. Kelcey’s work has elevated the prestigious and impactful work by our college departments when trying to attract new students and talent to CEHS and the University. CEHS is a better place because of her daily impact.”
Buck has introduced a social media campaign for CEHS that leverages user-generated content to showcase the vibrant campus life, fostering a sense of community among current and prospective students. This has led to a growth in followers and engagement with CEHS social media accounts among current and prospective students and their friends and families. She has also been engaged in broader recruitment efforts for the college, including a collaboration with the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources to host a table at the Nebraska Girls State Basketball Tournament.
“Whether it is supporting a department, disseminating the work of CEHS faculty and staff, or encouraging prospective students to consider Nebraska/CEHS, Kelcey is fully dedicated, prompt, and innovative,” another nominator wrote. “Kelcey does her job with poise, a positive attitude, and candor. She is often underappreciated as her work is a lot of 'behind the scenes' efforts. She is highly deserving of this award.”
