Meet Cece Villa, a junior from Altoona, Iowa, who is majoring in nutrition, exercise and health science with minors in communication and leadership and coaching. She is also a member of the Husker women's soccer team. Watch Cece and the Husker women's soccer team in a spring home match against the University of Kansas at 2:05 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Hibner Stadium.

Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I chose Nebraska because it had a good program I was interested in but also because of the city. Lincoln reminded me a lot of home and I liked the campus and environment of UNL as well.

What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?

I am a goalie on the women's soccer team. I work for Campus Recreation in the injury, prevention and care area. I am part of Dance Marathon, an ambassador for the College of Education and Human Sciences , and also am involved in a few clubs in the athletic department such as inner circle, SAAC, QSAC, and athlete ally.

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

I really enjoyed ALEC 202. This class was all about different leadership theories and how we as people lead and how we as people follow. It was super interesting learning about different personalities and how different people approach all kinds of situations and the many ways to handle them all.

What are your career goals?

I plan on going to grad school and trying to work in an athletic department in a life skills or DEI role. I want to elevate athletes in a lot of different ways and help them become better people on and off the field.
