Section 8 - Monetary Remuneration Academic Policy

University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Athletic Training Students (ATS) are not considered employees of the department where they are completing academic requirements for the UNL Athletic Training Program (UNL ATP). ATS completing academic requirements as part of the UNL ATP are not allowed to receive monetary remuneration benefits for services performed.

While enrolled in the UNL ATP, it is a violation of program policy for an athletic training student to receive monetary remuneration for activities affiliated with the UNL ATP. Examples of monetary remuneration include receiving financial compensation for athletic training services performed as part of athletic training academic courses.

Scholarships received by ATS are not considered monetary remuneration for services and do not violate this policy. Funds from scholarships are directly applied to university student accounts to pay for academic expenses (i.e., tuition and fees).
