The 4th Annual Nebraska Educators of Color Summit, an event jointly hosted by the College of Education and Human Sciences and Lincoln Public Schools, will take place Nov. 2-4, on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus.
This statewide event is open to high school scholars of diversity, pre-service education students, in-service educators, staff, administrators, and university faculty of diversity. Registration is free, but space is limited. The registration deadline is Oct. 11 or when capacity is reached. Register at go.unl.edu/educators-of-color23.
The purpose of the Educators of Color Summit is to grow the professional network of dedicated aspiring, pre-service and in-service educators of Color from across Nebraska; share ideas for collaboration, activism, and self-care; and envision innovative and liberatory practices to meet the needs of Nebraska’s diverse student populations. Furthermore, the summit is designed to reinforce the message that diverse representation matters in fostering educational relevance, empowerment, encouragement and leadership development among students and educators of Color.
This year’s jointly hosted event showcases the strong partnership between CEHS and LPS as scholars and practitioners work together to build on current racial justice movements and to create an authentic space for community and solidarity building.

This half-day session is intended to support participants and their colleagues to strategically plan for action in addressing critical equity, diversity, and inclusion needs within their institutions and/or programs. Dr. Bianca Nightengale-Lee, a preeminent leader in the field, will support groups during this time as a skilled facilitator.
