Allison Brandl is a first-year student from Waverly, Nebraska, majoring in family and consumer sciences occupational.
Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?
I chose UNL because I love the community here. Everyone here is ready and willing to support you with whatever you might choose to do and I always feel like I have someone in my corner whether it’s a professor or my advisor.
What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?
I joined the Cornhusker Marching Band as well as Pep Band and the Campus band. I love getting to play for all of the sports and I love bringing the fun energy.
What has been your favorite class and why?
My favorite class has either been my Roman Entertainment class or my practicum. I loved Roman Entertainment because the professor was super fun and engaging and he made it really fun to learn about an interesting topic. I love my practicum class because I’m learning how to be a good teacher. The professor that organizes everything is super nice and responds so quickly and the teacher I’ve been put with is wonderful!
What are your career goals?
I hope to teach FCS Classes at any school in Nebraska. I want kids to learn how to be successful adults and enjoy going to school everyday just like I did. I want to make sure that every kid knows they have someone in their corner just like my teachers have done for me.
