Meet Nathan Heldt, a senior from Papillion, Nebraska, who is majoring in nutrition, exercise and health sciences.

Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

When I toured campus I knew it’s where I wanted to be.

What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?

I am a part of Husker performance nutrition. As a student worker I work at our fueling stations located at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, and at Memorial Stadium. I also stock the team rooms for many of our sports.

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

My favorite class has been NUTR 344 - Nutrition and Food for Optimal Health. This class gives you the tools for broadly understanding the subject of nutrition. It allows you to understand what nutrition research is actually like, and how to really understand the impact of foods on your diet, beyond the good/bad categories most people like to put food into, and how to find balance.

What are your career goals?

I’d love to be a sports dietitian, that was my initial goal coming into college and getting to work with the amazing dietitians at Husker performance nutrition has only pushed me further into the field.
