AJ Pugh and Kenzie Steiner, both students in the College of Education and Human Sciences , were two of the eight students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who earned a certificate from the Peace Corps for successfully completing the Peace Corps Prep program.

Launched in September 2021, Nebraska’s Peace Corps Prep program integrates coursework, hands-on experience and professional development to prepare undergraduates for international development fieldwork and potential Peace Corps service. Each student focuses on one Peace Corps sector: agriculture, community economic development, education, environment, health, or youth in development.

Pugh is a nutrition, exercise and health sciences major from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, while Steiner is an elementary education major from Lincoln. The eight students who completed Peace Corps Prep in spring 2023 are the first Nebraska students to receive the certificate since the program started.
