The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Education and Human Sciences awarded scholarships and fellowships totaling more than $2.3 million to more than 600 students for the 2024-25 academic year.
On the heels of an increase in enrollment this fall at both the undergraduate and graduate levels for the first time since 2016, CEHS awarded 900 scholarships and fellowships to a total of 622 students in the college. That college-supported funding totaled more than $2.3 million in awards. About 200 scholarship recipients, donors, faculty and staff gathered Nov. 1 for the annual scholarship donor luncheon.
“The scholarship lunch is absolutely one of the best days of the year – maybe my favorite,” said Nick Pace, CEHS interim dean. “It’s inspiring to see students sharing their career and academic dreams with generous donors who help light their way. Our students’ energy for the future is matched by our donors’ desire to make a difference. We are humbled that of all the opportunities our donors have to help make the world a better place, they choose to support CEHS students.”
At the luncheon, former CEHS Associate Dean Deb Mullen provided remarks about the impacts donors have on students, and Dolores Ortega, a Ph.D. student in nutrition and health sciences from Norwalk, California, shared gratitude on behalf of students.
