In observance of Women’s History Month, Nebraska Today has partnered with the Chancellor’s Commission on the Status of Women to feature female office/service staff who go above and beyond in their work at Dear Old Nebraska U. This Women of Service series will run in Nebraska Today through March 31.

The series continues today with Teri Kaluza, a customer service and project associate with the College of Education and Human Sciences ’ Pixel Lab. She was nominated by Haley Apel, director of strategic communications for the college.

In her work, Kaluza greets and helps customers to the Pixel Lab. Her goal is to ensure that the lab operates smoothly each day.

“Teri goes above and beyond to ensure customers, oftentimes students, have a positive experience,” Apel said. “Her supportive nature and attention to detail reassures our customers that their project will come to life just as they envisioned.”

Kaluza sat down with the Chancellor’s Commission on the Status of Women to discuss what inspires her on and off campus.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I lived in Seattle with my grandparents in my late teenage years. I moved back to Lincoln, got married had two children. Now I have six grandchildren.

How long have you been at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

I have been at the university for 22 years in May.

What do you look forward to when you come to work?

I enjoy coming to work each day as it is never the same — we have different requests and projects each day. I like working with all the students who come in and use our services and area. We print several conference posters and I enjoy reading what they are all about and the interesting information.

What is your favorite memory at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

I have several, most are when we had several student workers in our center and they each were so talented and had such good and different personalities. They help keep us all young and joyful.

What is your life like outside of work?

I enjoy days when my husband and I go for walks in the park. I love spending time with my grandchildren. And, I also like gardening.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I am a diehard Seattle Seahawks fan. And, I still have several family members who live in the Seattle area.
