Meet Allie Gotschall, a nutrition, exercise and health sciences major from Columbus, Nebraska. Allie is in the pre-physician assistant track while also pursuing a minor in leadership and communications.

Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

As the youngest child of my family who has always looked up to my dad and three older brothers who attended UNL, I always knew I wanted to find a home here just as they once had. I loved the city of Lincoln and the welcoming dynamic UNL's campus offered, and I knew there would be plenty of opportunities for me to get involved here.

What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?

I'm involved in my sorority, Alpha Phi, where I currently serve on the executive team as the executive administrator. This year I am one of thirteen members of the UNL Chancellor's senior honorary society, the Innocents Society. I'm also a member of NHRI Leadership Mentoring, where I've mentored a high-school-aged girl for the past two years. Within NHRI I also serve as an interviewer and a project staff advisor. I'm a part of two clubs on campus, STAC (Students Against Cancer), as well as the Pre-PA club.

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

Although often credited as daunting and rigorous, Human Anatomy at UNL has been one of my favorite classes by far. I loved getting to experience the cadaver laboratory and learn hands-on the complexities of the human body. I believe that the quality knowledge I've taken away from that class will prepare me for graduate school and far beyond in my healthcare career.

What are your career goals?

After undergraduate school, I plan to attend physician assistant school in Nebraska to pursue my dream of working in medicine!
