Meet Cooper Giles, a fifth-year senior from Lake Zurich, Illinois. Cooper is majoring in nutrition, exercise and health science with minors in business and psychology, and is a member of the Husker men's gymnastics team. Watch Cooper and the Husker men's gymnastics team in its first home meet of the season at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.

Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

The family feel of the athletic department and university made me feel at home. The benefits that a Nebraska student-athlete gets are just outstanding, it truly was the place for me. I also had the opportunity to join my brother on the gymnastics team here, which was a ton of fun!

What activities and organizations were you involved in on campus?

I am involved in SAAC, which is the student-athlete advisory committee, and we work with a ton of other student-athletes and upper administration to help develop our leadership skills.

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

NUTR 484, exercise physiology! Dr. Housh is one of, if not my favorite professor I’ve had at UNL and the material was intriguing and I always wanted to be engaged.

What are your career goals?

I’ll be attending Palmer College of Chiropractic next fall! Then hopefully open my own practice once I graduate from there!
