Meet Kelsey Wathen, a junior from Council Bluffs, Iowa, who is majoring in elementary education.

Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I chose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln because of the connects and atmosphere! Lincoln, Nebraska is truly the best place on earth and I have formed amazing connections that I will hold with me forever. The elementary education program at UNL is also incredible and sets you up for success for leading future generations!

What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?

SALT!!

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

My favorite class has been math matters 300 (With Dr. Amman of course ;) ). This class challenges you to think about simple math in a way you could never imagine. I learned so many perspectives tiny minds can have about math and how I can tweak my perspective to best help my future learners reach their full potential in my classroom!

What are your career goals?

I hope to be a 4th grade teacher once I graduate and grow in my career as an educator!
