Neeta Kantamneni has been named the interim chair of the Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education and Human Sciences.
She moved into the role this summer after the previous department chair, Susan Swearer stepped down to return to her faculty position.
Kantamneni arrived at Nebraska in 2009 as an assistant professor in the counseling psychology program and was promoted to associate professor in 2016. She became the director of clinical training for the counseling psychology program in 2019 and was awarded the Alan T. Seagren Professorship in Education in 2022.
With expertise in vocational psychology, Kantamneni seeks to understand how contextual and systemic factors affect academic and career development. Throughout her tenure at Nebraska she has taught courses related to multicultural counseling, vocational psychology, and psychological interventions, and has provided dissertation advising for nearly 20 students.
Kantamneni earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She also holds a master’s in counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Iowa.
