Spencer Hall has been selected as the latest recipient of the Staff Star Award presented quarterly by the College of Education and Human Sciences Staff Council.
Hall, the CEHS business center manager for human resources and East Campus operations, was recognized for his ability to help faculty navigate fiscal and business processes, including grant cycle processes.
“He goes above and beyond to work with us on developing budgets for grant project applications and the appropriate tracking and documentation to meet federal requirements,” a nominator wrote.
The nominator also noted Hall’s timely responses and his understanding of the nuances of the various funding sources, which has led to a deep trust in his guidance.
“Spencer has been an integral part of our team, helping us to move grants through the UNL cycle in excess of $2 million each grant cycle,” the nominator continued. “We have 100% confidence in his abilities to generate budgets to accurately reflect time, effort and benefits, which is a necessary part of the success of one of our grants where the majority is used to fund staff time across the state. Even though he helps ensure our department and college business center are running smoothly, he makes our team feel like we are his only project.”
The Staff Star Award recognizes CEHS staff members who go above and beyond their scope of duties. It is presented in January, April, July and October. To nominate a staff member for a Staff Star Award, click here.
