Tylee Hanson, director of field experiences, has been selected as the recipient of the latest Staff Star Award by the College of Education and Human Sciences Staff Council.
Hanson joined the college in August 2019, and has made a positive impact across all teacher education departments with her partnership and communication with faculty, staff, students and school partners. Her work during the ongoing pandemic has been especially exceptional, according to her nominator.
“As the COVID environment has evolved, Tylee continues to innovate ways to best communicate and support students, faculty and schools to ensure that CEHS’s teacher candidates can complete requirements and become teachers ON TIME,” her nominator stated.
When Lancaster County directed health measures determined all student teachers and practicum students working in schools in the county had to have COVID tests every two weeks, Hanson worked with students, schools and faculty to coordinate a process.
“Based on the volume of information and students, Tylee has performed above and beyond in managing this process,” her nominator said. “The timing of the test results and the fast turnaround with which they must be entered means Tylee must carefully coordinate communication, protect confidential health information, provide guidance to supervisors and students, and enter clearance information for more than 300 students at various points in the semester. She is a big reason that UNL practicum and student teachers are able to participate in live classroom experiences with Lincoln Public Schools.”
Since Hanson’s arrival at the college, she has impressed her nominator with her improvements, innovations and overall high quality of work, which have resulted in positive comments from departments about her performance and efforts.
“Tylee is someone who has added value to CEHS from day one and continues to elevate herself and those around her every day.”
