Kelcey Buck was named the Director of Communications for the College of Education and Human Sciences in October 2024. In this position, she leads all communications and marketing efforts for the college, including execution of strategies to promote CEHS to internal and external audiences, generating content for the CEHS website and social media, and providing support for external communications for departments and units within the college. Kelcey also oversees operations of the Pixel Lab, including personnel management, sales and subsidy reporting. Kelcey also leads the Pixel Lab in the development of print and digital media for clients in CEHS, UNL and elsewhere.
Kelcey arrived at Nebraska in April 2016 to serve as the communications associate in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders. In that role, she was responsible for all external communications, including maintaining the department website, writing and distributing stories, creating print and video promotional materials, and generating content for the department's social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) accounts.
Prior to Nebraska, Kelcey worked in athletics communications for nearly eight years, beginning her career as the first-ever sports information director at Central Methodist University before serving as the assistant sports information director at Washington University in St. Louis. In those roles, she was responsible for handling all publicity and statistics for 10 NCAA Division III athletics teams at WashU and all of Central Methodist's teams (14 at the time) that compete in the NAIA. Throughout her time in athletics communications, she was an active member in the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), serving on the organization's Academic All-America committee.
Kelcey graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in art from Doane College in 2008, then earned her master's degree in education from Central Methodist in 2010.
