Cathy Gabell, undergraduate project associate in teaching, learning and teacher education, has been selected as the latest recipient of the College of Education and Human Sciences Staff Star Award, presented quarterly by the CEHS Staff Council.
In her role, Gabell provides support for faculty and undergraduate programs in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education. She helps faculty in the department organize events and projects for their students, coordinating logistics to make things run smoothly.
“When there is an event, Cathy makes sure the materials are ordered and where they need to be,” her nominator wrote. “When there is a deadline, Cathy makes sure the pieces are in place before it arrives. When there is a problem, Cathy is already working on the solution.”
Her nominator noted her consistency, as well as her ability to make ideas come to life through her organization and diligence. Gabell was also lauded for her commitment to the programs and people in the department.
“Over three years, in situations large and small, urgent and routine, she has brought not just her capacity for execution but her genuine investment in the program and in the people it serves.”
The Staff Star Award recognizes CEHS staff members who go above and beyond their scope of duties. It is given on a quarterly basis, and the next nomination deadline is July 31. To nominate a staff member for a Staff Star Award, click here.
