Lee to present next NGN talk Feb. 6, 12:00 p.m.

Jaekwon Lee, UNL Department of Biochemistry, will present the next NGN Seminar Series Talk, February 6 at 12:00 p.m., Nebraska East Union Sunflower Room. A brown bag lunch with beverages and desert will be provided.
 
Lee's talk is entitled, “Cellular Responses to Copper Limitation: Are They Beneficial for Health?” at noon on Wednesday, February 6th at the Nebraska East Union in the Sunflower Room.

University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain Professors to give talk Feb. 8

Printed Impresssions: Source and Speculation: An exhibit at the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery

The Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery presents a new exhibit, Printed Impressions: Source and Speculation. The exhibit will be open January 28 to March 1.

Printed garments from the historic costume collection inspired students in textile design courses to create repeat designs using digital and hand screen printing.

This exhibition was developed in cooperation with Barbara Trout, curator of the historic costume collection, Michael Burton, who worked with students from an advanced design class, and Wendy Weiss who worked with textile students.

Valentine talks Project Runway via Skype

CEHS' own Amanda Valentine was interviewed recently about her experiences on the hit Lifetime show, Project Runway. Amanda is a graduate of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design program.

Valentine, who lives and works in Nashville, was interviewed using Skype. She answered questions about what it was like to participate on the show, and about her memories of Lincoln and UNL.

Grandin discusses Asperger's Syndrome in front of large audience

Temple Grandin, professor of animal science at Colorado State University, led a very different interactive presentation Jan. 15. Grandin has Asperger’s Syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism, and her audience was preservice teachers and parents of children with Asperger’s. Grandin’s remarkable story has been told in a movie bearing her name.

Linda Murphy, BUROS Institute, to retire

Linda L. Murphy is retiring from her position as Managing Editor at the Buros Center for Testing.   For nearly 30 years, Linda has been instrumental in a large number and wide variety of Buros Center publications, as she advanced from an entry-level position to a manager, taking time to earn her Master’s degree.  She was Managing Editor on nine of the ten Mental Measurements Yearbooks and all five of the Tests in Print volumes that have been published since the Buros Center moved to the UNL in 1978.

Valentine, TMFD alumna, to compete on Project Runway

Amanda Valentine, TMFD alumna, will be a contestant on the next Project Runway, the popular fashion reality show on the Lifetime network.

Amanda now makes Nashville, TN her home, where she is wardrobe stylist and costume designer. She works on a wide range of projects--from music videos to commercials and photo shoots.

Her first job was in a pizza shop, but she knew early that she was meant to work in the design world.
