Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism program grows involvement with Augusta National Golf Club for 2019 Masters Tournament

The Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia is considered by many to be the pinnacle of professional golf. For the fourth year in a row, students and their professor from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) program will be working with members, patrons, and staff at Augusta National Golf Club for the 2019 Masters Tournament.

Jha delivers keynote at seminar in India

HRTM Associate Professor of Practice, Dipra Jha recently traveled to India to deliver a keynote at an international seminar on food, hospitality and tourism. Organized by the Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management at Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana, the one-day event on March 12th was attended by scholars, industry leaders and students from institutions across India. It was widely covered by local electronic and print media.

And the Winners of the CEHS Staff Open is...

It was a close vote but the winning hole, based on votes from participants, is the City Campus Business Team and Dean’s Office in Louise Pound Hall. This hole featured a two-story challenge with a money tree! Monopoly money hung from a tree, but there were more labels with dollar signs wrapped around cans and food packages. The cans and food were then donated to the Huskers Pantry.

Moeller completes year as world language ambassador and ACTFL presiden

Ali Moeller is an ambassador of world languages in every manner. She advocates for them. She sings their praises. She encourages others to pursue them. She represents them. And she teaches others to do the same. As president of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), Moeller, spent 2018 traveling the U.S. and beyond to share the important benefits of learning and teaching a second language.

TMFD graduate thesis project uses 3D body scanning and 3-D printer technology to combat gaming stereotypes

As part of her final master's degree project in Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design, College of Education and Human Sciences, Stephanie Pitcher used body scanning and 3-D printer technology to create avatars of real women.

Three Countries; One Classroom: Opens Doors, Connects Minds

CEHS’s Dipra Jha connected UNL students with peers 7,500 miles away at The Emirates Academy and Oman Tourism College as part of the Global Virtual Project. The project was supported by the Stevens Initiative which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Aspen Institute.

Students Needed to Volunteer for ScoutREACH

“I really wanted to give back to Scouts because it gave my children an opportunity to learn good values and discipline,” Roz Hussin explains why she wants to give back to Boy Scouts. Hussin is an Instructional Design Specialist for the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She could have sold popcorn or donated money, like most mothers that want to give back to the Scouts. Instead, Hussin became the District Commissioner for the ScoutREACH program.
