SECD visually impaired program featured in LJS article

The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders offers a special education endorsement program in visual impairments. The online course, taken over the course of 2 1/2 years, was mentioned in a recent article in the Lincoln Journal Star newspaper. The program is offered in cooperation with the Nebraska Department of Education and the Nebraska Center for the Education of Children Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired.

CEHS graduate education program jumps to 40th

The graduate education program in the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln jumped eight spots to number 40 in national rankings released March 10, 2015 by U.S. News & World Report. Nebraska moved past Big Ten counterparts Rutgers and Iowa in this year’s rankings.

CEHS Dean Marjorie Kostelnik said the climb in this year’s rankings reflects the college’s success in preparing students to make a difference in the lives of individuals, families, schools and communities.

James honored as 'Master of the Medium'

Michael James, department chair and Ardis James Professor of Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, has been selected by the James Renwick Alliance (JRA) as one of five craft artists in the country to receive its annual Masters of the Medium Award. James is widely recognized as one of the founding leaders of the non-traditional or “art quilt” movement launched in the 1970s.

Beth Doll, associate dean in the College of Education and Human Sciences, received the 2015 Outstanding Contributions to Training Award Feb. 17 at the annual conference of the Trainers of School Psychologists (TSP) in Orlando, Florida. The award is presented to school psychologists who throughout their careers have demonstrated exceptional contributions to training issues that merit special recognition.

TLTE's Reeves named 2015 Swanson Award recipient

Jenelle Reeves was once reluctant to pursue a career in teaching, but now she’s being recognized for her excellence in that very discipline. The College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) has selected Reeves, associate professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education, as the 2015 recipient of the Donald R. & Mary Lee Swanson Award for Teaching Excellence. She will be recognized at the All University Honors Convocation April 12 and at a college luncheon May 1.
