The Counseling and School Psychology Clinic at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is beginning a new support group in February for self-identified and formally diagnosed neurodivergent undergraduate and graduate students.

The clinic is aiming for a group of 6-8 students. Meetings will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Mondays for 10-12 weeks at the Counseling and School Psychology Clinic on the lower level of Teachers College Hall. The group will focus on education on neurodiversity topics, practical tools and peer support.

“Several neurodivergent student clinicians approached me about starting a student support group and I was immediately on board,” said Janet Schwartz-Micheaux, director of the Counseling and School Psychology Clinic. “As an AuDHDer myself, I know how much time, effort and intentionality it can take to navigate school, relationships and daily life. This group is designed to bring neurodivergent students together to learn from one another, share practical tools and build community. We are incredibly excited to offer this space to students across campus.”

Participation in the group is a flat-rate fee of $75 for the duration of the semester and financial support is available for those in need. Students interested in participating in the group can complete a form at https://go.unl.edu/cspc-neurodiversity.

The Counseling and School Psychology Clinic is a training clinic housed within the Department of Educational Psychology. It offers supportive, affirming, and affordable psychological services to members of the local community and surrounding regions, while also providing professional clinical training for graduate students in the counseling psychology and school psychology programs.
