Students in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s hospitality, restaurant and tourism management (HRTM) program will host UNLimited Hospitality – An Evening of Gratitude and Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 6. The third annual event will be from 5-7 p.m. in the HRTM academic space at The Scarlet Hotel on Nebraska Innovation Campus.
The event is planned and coordinated by 33 students in the Introduction to Event Planning class, taught by Assistant Professor of Practice Vernetta Kosalka. It brings together industry professionals, alumni, donors and university partners for an evening dedicated to appreciation and connection. The goal of the gathering is to express gratitude to the program’s stakeholders and foster ongoing partnerships that strengthen the hospitality community.
“This evening is a celebration of the people and partnerships who make our program thrive,” Kosalka said. “Our students have designed an event that not only showcases their skills but also says thank you to those who continually support their growth and success.”
Guests will enjoy culinary creations prepared by the Catering Management class, under the direction of Master Chef Nazim Khan, as well as interactive hospitality demonstrations that highlight student learning in real-world settings.
“This event reflects the true spirit of hospitality, gratitude, connection and collaboration,” said Ajai Ammachathram, associate professor and HRTM program director. “Our students are learning that relationships are the foundation of this industry, and this gathering is a wonderful way to celebrate everyone who contributes to our mission.”
The evening will highlight the program’s focus on experiential learning, professional engagement, and building relationships with community and industry partners that extend beyond the classroom.
The UNLimited Hospitality event is open to the public. RSVPs are requested by Monday, Nov. 3 at go.unl.edu/dr4a or by emailing Joan Kunzman at mkunzman2@unl.edu. For more information or media inquiries, contact Vernetta Kosalka at vkosalka2@unl.edu.
