Lisa Franzen-Castle, a professor and extension nutrition specialist in Nutrition and Health Sciences , has been named interim associate dean for the College of Education and Human Sciences .
“I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Professor Franzen-Castle to the interim associate dean role,” said Nick Pace, CEHS interim dean. “She has a passion for higher education and supporting faculty, students and staff. Her prior experience provides a broad perspective of CEHS and our complexities, challenges and opportunities. Along with our dedicated faculty, staff and leadership team, I’m eager to learn from and work alongside Lisa.”
Franzen-Castle previously served as CEHS associate dean for faculty affairs from 2021-23. She has been a faculty member in NHS and an extension nutrition specialist at Nebraska since 2009. A registered dietitian, Franzen-Castle completed her Ph.D. in nutrition with a minor in anthropology at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2009. She earned her master’s degree in entomology and her bachelor’s degree in dietetics with an insect science minor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
“I am honored to serve as the interim associate dean for CEHS,” Franzen-Castle said. “I am excited for the opportunity to collaborate with an array of administrators, faculty, and staff in this role as well as serve as an advocate and provide support for CEHS through this position.”
As interim associate dean, Franzen-Castle will be responsible for broad support of the college, including work with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs, as well as CEHS promotion and tenure, awards and professional leave processes. She will collaborate with department chairs, faculty leads, center directors and the interim dean to continue forward progress on the CEHS grand visions, while promoting professional development, and strengthening multi-disciplinary relationships across the college and campus.
