Mason Barrett is a junior from Gering, Nebraska, majoring in secondary education: social studies.

Why did you choose your program in the College of Education and Human Sciences?
I'd heard great things from many recent graduates from UNL CEHS and knew that teaching was always something that had been in the back of my mind as a potential future. Following a visit, it was a no-brainer!

What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?
I'm involved with UNL Honors, the Iron N, and the UNL History Club

What is one thing that has stood out from your experience in CEHS so far?
Everyone is so welcoming! From advisors to professors to fellow students, I have had nothing but great people surrounding me in CEHS!

What is one piece of advice you would share with new or prospective CEHS students?
Take advantage of everything that CEHS provides, including advisors, career fairs, and as many extra experiences as you can. We have the best support staff and opportunities of any of the colleges here at UNL, so use it!

What are your career goals?
I want to teach high school history and geography for a while before potentially moving up to the college level to move into research as well as teaching.
