Section 12 - Bloodborne Pathogen Training, Exposure Plan, and Immunization Policy

Being an athletic training student does present a small but real health risk. Athletic trainers frequently come into contact with patients who are ill with potentially infectious diseases including bloodborne pathogens.

The UNL ATP adheres to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Environmental Health and Safety Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan for all UNL ATP and Lincoln Southwest High School clinical education sites.

ATS assigned and attending clinical education sites at Concordia University (CUNE) will adhere to the Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan.

Both documents comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard, Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens (29CFR 1910.1030).
