CEHS Staff Council to host annual technology workshops Mar. 25

CEHS Staff Council welcomes you to join in the annual Staff Technology Workshops.  Next Tuesday, March 25th (spring break) two morning sessions are available for enrollment, with lunch following in TEAC 105.  To RSVP please click on the link below.  RSVP's are due THIS Friday, March 21 by 12:00 p.m.
All workshops will be in Mabel Lee Hall Computer lab. Please see the workshop descriptions below.

Retail execs highlight Big Idea Seminar

Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design is participating in UNL’s Big Idea Seminar Mar. 18-19. Designed to build big ideas and collaborations among UNL faculty, the Big Idea Seminar series covers a broad area of research topics that emphasize team building opportunities.

The Mar. Big Idea Seminar highlights “Concept to Commercialization” and features three successful retail and manufacturing entrepreneurs: Walter T. Wilhelm, Joan Mudget, and Paul Taylor.

Baer, 2012 TLTE Ph.D. grad earns, AERA SIG Award


Recent CEHS Ph.D. graduate Stephanie Baer has been chosen to receive the Arts and Learning Special Interest Group (SIG) Dissertation Award that will be presented at the annual conference of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in April in Philadelphia. Baer, who earned her Ph.D. from Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education in December 2012, researched the issue of student teacher fear in the arts classroom and how it affects students’ willingness to learn.

TLTE's Moeller elected to national board

Ali Moeller, Edith S. Greer professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education, has been elected to the board of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). She began her three-year term Jan. 1 as an at-large member along with Juan Carlos Morales of the Delaware Department of Education.

LaCost recognized by National Education Finance Conference

Barbara LaCost, associate professor in the Department of Educational Administration at UNL, is a recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Fellow Award from the National Education Finance Conference (NEFC).  Recipients of the Fellow Award are selected in recognition of exemplary research, practice, and policy advancement in both the K-12 and higher education environments. LaCost will be recognized at the NEFC Annual Conference, April 23-25 in Louisville, KY.

TLTE senior, Cortney, receives Mathematics Education Trust Prospective Teacher Award

Camilla Cortney, TLTE senior mathematics education student, was selected to receive one of four Mathematics Education Trust Prospective Teacher NCTM Annual Conference Attendance Awards. This award, totaling $1,200 plus conference registration, will enable her to attend the NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition in New Orleans this April. Camilla's primary focus at the conference will be to attend sessions that will enable her to better serve English language learner students in her mathematics classes.
