HRTM grad begins career at The Scarlet Hotel

The ribbon cutting for The Scarlet Hotel on May 6 holds double significance for Rebecca Ellers. Not only will the occasion mark the grand opening of the brand-new 154-room Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel located on Nebraska Innovation Campus, but it also serves as the launch of Ellers’ career in the hospitality industry.

Research hones in on health care barriers for Yazidi community

Lincoln is home to the largest population of Yazidi refugees in the United States, numbering in the thousands. Among them is Husker Falah Rashoka, who served the United States Army in Iraq. Now, as a doctoral student in nutrition and health promotion at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, he’s turned a research lens toward helping his community overcome barriers to health care.

CEHS Building to be Named Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall

The College of Education and Human Sciences’ new building being constructed on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s City Campus will be named Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall. The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the designation in honor of the late early-childhood education expert at its April 8 meeting.
