The Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases (NPOD) is hosting its 17th Annual Spring Retreat on Tuesday, April 7, at the Nebraska East Union.
The symposium is free and open to faculty, postdocs, students, staff, industry partners and other interested individuals. Registration is required. More details, including the registration link, can be found at https://go.unl.edu/npod-spring26.
The event includes three featured speakers, as well as a poster session for students and postdoctoral associates with prizes for the top three presenters. The keynote sessions are:
- Katrin Svensson, associate professor at Stanford School of Medicine, “Peptide Discovery in Metabolism and Physiology”
- Federico Rey, professor of bacteriology and medical microbiology and immunology at University of Wisconsin – Madison, “Exploring the Consequences of Gut Microbiome Variation on Host Health”
- Christopher Newgard, W. David and Sarah W. Stedman Distinguished Professor of Nutrition in the Duke University School of Medicine, “Branched Chain Amino Acids and Cardiometabolic Diseases”
NPOD was launched in 2014 as a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) with support from the National Institutes of Health. It supports cutting-edge research core facilities on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln led by Director Janos Zempleni, Willa Cather Professor of Molecular Nutrition.
