Disciplinary/Termination Procedures

Students are required to remain in compliance with University of Nebraska-Lincoln policies and affiliated institution policies. Failure to comply with these policies may result in the student being placed on probation or being terminated from the program.

Infractions of affiliating institution policies will result in the student being notified verbally and in writing by the program director. A formal meeting with the program director and the preceptor at the affiliating institution will be scheduled to address the infraction. Documentation of the infraction and the meeting will be placed in the student's file as a permanent record. Depending upon the infraction, and as deemed necessary, the program director may consider probation or termination of the student based on policy guidelines outlined in the University of Nebraska Graduate Studies catalog which can be accessed at https://catalog.unl.edu/graduate-professional/policies/

Examples of policy infractions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • failure to meet academic/program requirements
  • failure to pay tuition/fees
  • breach of patient or facility confidentiality
  • unethical behavior
  • substance abuse
  • violent behavior

The procedures related to probation and termination can be found at https://catalog.unl.edu/graduate-professional/policies/academic/academic-program-requirements/.
