Sevier leads development of comprehensive cochlear implant services at Barkley Clinic

A year ago, Josh Sevier was in the beginning stages of establishing the Cochlear Implant Program at the Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic. His vision for a team approach to providing cochlear implant services has now come to fruition, with eight cochlear implant activations completed at the Barkley Memorial Center and five more individuals in process to have surgery.

Gottner Receives Staff Star Award

Congratulations to AnnMarie Gottner, the latest Staff Star Award recipientGottner is the Director of Advising for CEHS, and works closely with central UNL offices as well as all of the CEHS departments. Her innovative ideas for engaging stakeholders and improving processes and services are validated through quantitative and anecdotal data.

TMFD Ph.D. Student Bingnan Mu Recieves John and Louise Skala Fellowship

Bingnan Mu, TMFD Ph.D. graduate student currently working under the supervision of Dr. Yiqi Yang, has received a John and Louis Skala Fellowship.  This award is made in recognition of outstanding performance as a graduate student.  The Skala fellowship is granted annually to full-time graduate students in the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources engaged in research for new uses of agricultural products.  Congratulations Bingnan Mu!

Concur Travel Training

Travel Training and You

Hands on travel training will be provided on September 10th from 10am to 12noon in Henzlik 33 and 2pm to 4pm in Home Ec 142. New faculty & staff are encouraged to attend but the sessions are open for anyone who would like to participate. Please be sure to bring your NU ID and password for Firefly so you can actively participate in the session. You may register for the session at . CEHS Travel.There are computers available for 20 participants so space is limited.

Q-and-As with Carly Dinnes, Holli Luff, Alyssa Mount, Hanna Ringsdorf and Meghann Torchia, who will graduate Aug. 17. Carly receives her doctorate in human sciences, Holli and Meghann earn master's degrees in special education, and Alyssa and Hanna graduate with master's degrees in speech-language pathology.

Summer Travelogue Series-Republic of Congo

The last presentation in the Summer Travelogue series was on Monday, August 12 with Philippe Siassia, CEHS Technology Support Associate on east campus! He shared about living in the Republic of Congo, and finished his presentation with a guitar performance of one of his original songs.

Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic receives grant from Parkinson Voice Project

The Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was awarded a 2019 SPEAK OUT!® & LOUD Crowd® Grant from the Parkinson Voice Project to provide speech therapy to individuals with Parkinson’s Disease.

Maria de Guzman, Jill Brown, and Carolyn Edwards chosen as the recipient of the 2019 Ursula Gielen Global Psychology Book Award!

The book Parenting From Afar and the Reconfiguration of Family Across Distance authored by Maria de Guzman, Jill Brown, and Carolyn Edwards has been chosen as the recipient of the 2019 Ursula Gielen Global Psychology Book Award! This award is given every year by the International Psychology Division (52) of the American Psychological Association to the authors of the book that makes the most significant contribution to psychology as a global discipline.
