TLTE to host UNL's first English Language Learner Day

CEHS’s Department of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education (TLTE) will host UNL’s first English Language Learners (ELLs) Day on Thursday, April 23, 2015. The event will bring more than 200 Lincoln Public Schools middle school ELL students to the UNL campus and will give more than 100 elementary education and secondary English education majors the opportunity to work directly with this underserved population.

Zempleni to represent UNL at international research workshop

MicroRNAs (ribonucleic acid) and other non-coding RNAs are involved in almost every cellular process imaginable. They are also linked to many chronic diseases, including cancer, heart failure, diabetes, and neurological diseases. As such, these RNAs are also becoming targets for drug discovery, and the drugs are rapidly entering clinical trials. Non-coding RNA research is highly translational and can be leveraged to initiate many new collaborations. CEHS’s Dr.

Wolf's Abstract Selected for ASN's Poster Competion in Boston, April 2015

Congratulations to Tovah Wolf!

Tovah Wolf, master’s student in the lab of Dr. Janos Zempleni, UNL Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, was selected as a finalist to participate in a new award competition being held at American Society for Nutrition’s Scientific Sessions at the Experimental Biology Conference 2015 in Boston March 28 to April 1.

 ASN’s Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Poster Competition was created to highlight the very best research submitted by students and young investigators to ASN’s Scientific Sessions.

DeLaRosa earns Fulbright ETA

Julia DeLaRosa, a secondary education Spanish major in Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education, is one of five UNL students to earn a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant for 2015-16. The senior from Waco, Texas, who is graduating from CEHS with high distinction in May, will travel to Brazil for her ETA. Previously she has had study abroad experiences in Mexico, Costa Rica and Spain. Her activities at UNL include being an international student mentor, UNL Cultural Ambassador, and English tutor for Catholic Social Services.
