Nebraska Teachers of Color Summit is May 6 – 7

Hosted by the Department of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, organizers aim to help build a professional network of dedicated educators from across Nebraska who can use the event to share ideas for meeting the needs of Nebraska’s diverse students.

CEHS Building to be Named Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall

The College of Education and Human Sciences’ new building being constructed on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s City Campus will be named Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall. The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the designation in honor of the late early-childhood education expert at its April 8 meeting.

Husker program training much-needed school psychologists

The Department of Educational Pyschology’s school psychology program and Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology — the largest American Psychology Association-approved internship training program — bring mental health professionals to the state’s schools, boosting the workforce that helps students with mental and behavioral issues.

Bekka Hitz inducted into Mortar Board for 2022-23

Bekka Hitz, a special education (7-12) major from Omaha, was among the 29 Huskers tapped into the Black Masque Chapter of Mortar Board during the Ivy Day ceremony April 2.

Mortar Board is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for their achievements in scholarship, leadership and service, provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities, and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community.

CEHS Global Education Booster runs April 1 – 30

The College of Education and Human Sciences is hosting the Global Education Booster through the entire month of April for a new approach to funding study abroad programming for students. The college is working with the NU Foundation to offer a crowd-funding option and help lower the cost of the three college summer study abroad programs.
