Racial Literacy Roundtables hosting first session Sept. 18

Six Racial Literacy Roundtables events are scheduled for the 2024-25 academic year, beginning Sept. 18. 

Open to students, faculty and staff, the Roundtables are designed to help participants, particularly students, work on developing racial literacy skills. All events are held on Zoom from 6-7:30 p.m. on select Wednesdays. Each event requires a separate registration to participate. 

The schedule for 2024-25 includes:

  • Sept. 18, 2024Pete Ferguson, coordinator of culture, inclusion and scholar development at Lincoln Public Schools
  • Oct. 9, 2024Trish Morita-Mullaney, associate professor of literacy & language at Purdue University
  • Nov. 6, 2024Ted Hibbeler, tribal education and engagement extension educator at University of Nebraska
  • Feb. 5, 2025 – Azcia Fleming (Lincoln Northwest High School) and Kenny Quiroz (Schoo Middle School), first-year teachers in Lincoln Public Schools who are engaged in a self-study
  • March 5, 2025Laura Chávez-Moreno, assistant professor of Chicana/o & Central American studies and education at UCLA
  • April 2, 2025Madhur Shende, DEI educator & strategist and language education researcher
