Chris Lockwood, vice president of scientific affairs at Nutrabolt, will give a presentation as part of the Carlos Wear Lecture Series on Wednesday, Oct. 14, in Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall.

Lockwood’s lecture, which is sponsored by the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, will focus on his perspective and lessons from applying exercise and nutrition science. The event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 in room 227 of Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall and is open to the public.

Lockwood, who earned his Ph.D. in exercise physiology at the University of Oklahoma, has spent the last four years at Nutrabolt, creating and directing its clinical research program. He also supports regulatory affairs, quality and product development for Nutrabolt brands. Lockwood's mentor at Oklahoma was Jeffrey Stout, who was a graduate student with Professor Terry Housh while earning his Ph.D. in exercise physiology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln about 30 years ago.

Lockwood’s presentation, along with other lectures by distinguished experts in exercise physiology, kinesiology, sports psychology, sports medicine and other scientific aspects of physical education are funded through a gift to the Carlos Wear Lectureship Fund at the University of Nebraska Foundation. Wear served as professor and chair of the Men’s Physical Education Department at the University of Nebraska starting in 1950.

As an early advocate of the fitness movement, he was a Fellow of the American School Health Association, Charter Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, National President of Phi Epsilon Kappa, and recipient of the Honor Award from the American Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
